AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT RITUAL
Some Witches love to study astrology and how the weather in the stars can mirror our own energetic experience — an example of As Above, So Below. This love of the stars and patterns is a beautiful thing, but there is less talked about parallel that many witches intuit quite naturally:
As Within, So Without.
The way we treat ourselves has a correlation to the way we show up in relationship and community. The amount of love and attention we are able to give to ourselves impacts the energy we bring into our coven.
For example, when we have a hard time trusting ourselves, those in our coven may have a hard time trusting us as well. It is an illuminating and powerful exercise to notice the patterns in your relationships and how they relate to the way you treat yourself, not with shame or blame which can show up in the shadow of the Witch Wound, but with compassion and a desire to understand.
as within, so without ritual
What you need:
A journal & a pen
A mirror
Patience & Compassion
Ritual:
Find a quiet and private space.
Take at least six deep breaths balancing the inhale and exhale for the same amount of time. Feel the grounding of the earth’s gravity holding your body.
When you feel ready gaze into a mirror. Focus on the space in your heart as you continue to breathe deeply.
Listening with your intuitive ear, hear what it is you say to yourself as you gaze at yourself in the mirror.
Write down whatever comes up without judgment.
If you feel like you are getting into too much thought, focus on looking yourself in the eye.
Do this practice for 1-3 minutes.
When you feel complete, rest your eyes by gently closing them for a few seconds.
Open your eyes and look at what you have written.
Notice the undercurrent behind what you say to yourself.
Is there loving kindness?
Criticism?
Doubt?
Reflect on how the way you treat yourself and how it may impact others.
Set the intention of forgiving yourself and being open to gentle change. Choose 1 sentence or idea you have written that you can transmute into loving kindness through a balancing action.
Notice how your loving kindness towards yourself ripples out in the relationships you have with friends, colleagues, your children, neighbors or even strangers you come across for one week.
Write down what you observe shifts with this deep practical magic.
